History

The firm was founded in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by patent attorney D. Lewis Mattern in 1921, after graduation from Georgetown University Law School in 1913. In 1963 Robert H. Ware joined Lew Mattern, and the firm of Mattern & Ware was formed.

Over the succeeding years, the firm has grown to encompass attorneys with technical backgrounds ranging from electronics and mechanical engineering to biochemistry.

Over the years, the firm has represented many multi-national corporations, local companies and individuals. The firm has relationships with many foreign intellectual property law firms, allowing its clients to protect their intellectual property throughout the world.

The firm is located in Monroe, Connecticut, and continues as Ware Fressola Maguire & Barber LLP.
